  1. I've made dark brown before by mixing red and green. Maybe if you add blue, you'd get black.

  2. You can't mix lights to get black.  Black is not a color.  Turn the light off.

  3. Turn them all off

  4. There is what people commonly call "black lights", but that's a misnomer: they're actually lamps that emit mostly ultra-violet light -- They usually look like they are black (the light tubes themselves), and if you turn them on most often you see a purple glow... They're the ones that make whites and phosphorescent objects glow purple.   The majority of the light that comes out of a black light isn't visible to the human eye (there is some purple that you can see in the dark), hence the term 'black light' ... the link has one description

  5. Isn't black the absent of light ??

  6. Mixing LIGHT?  Not gonna happen.  Black is the abscence of light.

Mixing light and mixing pigments is different.

  7. you can mix pigments to get black but not light. by the very definition blackness is the absence of light.

  8. You can't make black by mixing light.  You can make black by mixing paints by using the three primary colours, red, yellow, and blue.

And maybe you're thinking of "black light" as in the glowing purple lights they have at dances or glow in the dark bowling etc.  That's not visible light, it's actually ultraviolet which has a shorter wavelength.

Anyway.. you might want to rephrase your question :)
