How to make completely new friends?

My family and I are going to be moving fairly soon! At first, I was like "Yes! Finally we're moving!". But now as it comes down to the wire, switching schools probably won't be that easy. This is the first time I've ever moved, and I wanted to know if you had any tips on how to make friends the first day of school. I am going into 8th grade, so you can imagine the kids at that school won't be so open to meeting new people. Well, anyways, I just want some easy ways of making moving schools any less painful.

Easy. K. Don't do anything. Someone is bound to talk 2 u. and if that doesn't work just say hi to someone and if they say hi back say something like what electives are u taking and stuff like that!
