As most people mentioned, you can open them using AutoCAD since .dwg is an AutoCAD file extension, and there are several viewers you can use to open them as well.  Although I don't know that you can edit them with the viewers if that is what you are hoping to do.  If you have AutoCAD and are having trouble viewing them, they could be from a newer release than you have and you would need someone to back save them to be compatible.

Also if you have MicroStation V8 from Bentley which is typically used as a CAD program that is very similar to AutoCAD.  It uses .dgn files, but has the capacity to open .dwg files as well and saves to either format.

I guess the question would be what you need to do with the files, just print, access and modify, etc.  If you just need them printed, you could get someone who has AutoCAD to save the drawings as .pdf files that you could print with Adobe.  I can do that and might be willing to help you if there aren't too many files.

That extension goes with Autocad files.  I believe there are viewers available, if you do some web searching.  I got Volvo View Express from somewhere.  I can't remember if it was free or if I got it from a site license at work.

You need to either use a CADD program  or a DWG viewer.  The viewers do just that view and print only, if you need to edit the dwg you will need a CAD program like AutoCad
