  1. i take an antibiotic called flucloxasillen. it stops chest infections :) but its prescribed my a DR only

  2. If you are experiencing repeated chesty episodes, you need to be looking for a cause, or more likely an alternative diagnosis! Assuming for a moment I exclude the obvious and assume that you are NOT a smoker with COPD. The commonest cause of recurrent chesty episodes in not infection, it is undiagnosed asthma.

I am going to ask a number of questions of you, but will of course be limited by the fact that I don't know how you are going to answer them. However if there are a lot of yes answers the problem may well be asthma.

    Were you a chesty child?

Is the following true of you, every time you get a cold do you get a cough with it?

    Do you cough at night?

Do you cough when you laugh?

Do you cough when it is cold out or when the temperature changes suddenly?

    Do you cough on exertion?

Are there any circumstances when you become wheezy?

Have you a family history of asthma, eczema, allergies or hay-fever?

Do you have a personal history of eczema, allergies or hay fever?

P.S. there are NO useful herbal remedies for chestiness.
