How to promote affiliate mini sites?

I've just started out with affiliate marketing and have made a mini site for a particular niche but how do i get traffic? i tried promoting it on squidoo and similar places but i just don't seem to get enough traffic,any good free SEO techniques?doesn't matter if they are black hat

The best way is to make your affiliate minisite a content based site too - make it a real website rather than a so-called "thin affiliate" website. You've got little to no chance with getting lots of traffic to one of these sites these days.

But a top-notch website with great content (that also promotes your affiliate merchant) will always be popular...

You were on the right track with squidoo, but you have to keep going. Article marketing, directory submissions, adding more content to your mini-site, etc. are all ways to build your traffic.

You can't expect to build a site and immediately see traffic. Search engines base at least part of their algorithm on backlinks to, or votes for, your site. You need to be constantly adding to those backlinks to improve your rankings in the search engines, and get increased traffic.

Blackhat techniques can get you tons of untargeted traffic in the short term, but that traffic may not be buyers, and in the long run, you may get your mini-site banned from the search engines.

  At first when you start your website it will take you quite a time to get traffic.It will not come immediately and to me to get the traffic it depends with the content in order to get recognised by search engines.Your traffic begins with rich information which people are searching on the search engines.So try your best to make sure the search engines recognises your contenet that is the key words you use,once its recognised you will be ranked at the top then your site will be found

An affiliate mini site is promoted the same as a traditional website.  You are on the right track with Squidoo and similar - the main idea with promotion is to "get the word out".

The absolute best way to get SUSTAINED traffic is with on-page SEO:  

*do keyword research and select words/phrases that are relevant to the topic of your affiliate item(s)

*utilize your <title> and <descriptin> tags

*have readable content on the page, including your keywords.
