Question:

How to quit a job?

It's not just any job. It's my sister's boyfriend of 3 years and his whole family. I'm dating his cousin who also works here. We both want to quit. We already have somewhere else to work. But what kind of family drama is this going to cause?

And how do I do it. I pretty much refuse to come look them in the eyes. They run a very...... corrupt business.

I'm miserable at work, every day is the worst day ever. It's just not worth it.

What do I do?

  1. Be kind, even if you hate your boss, because your boss is not your boss anymore. She is part of your network. And some people who are jerks to work for are actually nice and fun outside of work. You don’t know until you try. So hedge your bets and be gracious on the way out, even if you don’t feel that way.

Make sure your boss knows that this is a good move for you. Even if you’re not sure if it’s a good move, tell your boss that it is. We all need to believe in ourselves

A personal thank you note is a good way to leave because your boss can reread it all the time and remember only the good things about you. This will help when you call your boss for a favor – like when you need a reference.

  2. dont leave on bad terms! just be honest and they'll like you more for it! plus you better do it soon because if they find out then they've got every right to sack you and then you'll have a bad recruiting record!

  3. You type a resignation letter and give it to them.  It is just a letter stating that you are quitting.  You don't need to give them reasons, but I would mention the last day that you will be working there.  You definitely want to leave on good terms since they are family so be professional with your letter.

  4. just tell them that it doesn't hange anything for the famliy i jsut think that i need to go here because it would benefit me more financially. or something like that don't use names or where you are going. it makes it harder though because two of you are quiting but that is still what i would do.

  5. be like look i don't like this job it's just not me and i would like to quit.i mean the worst they can say is they don't want to talk to you and you stil got your whole sidee of the family and if they really ere family they would under stand

  6. You worry too much!  The job is miserable, the bussiness is corrupt.  You have already found a new job.  Why wait?  Quit now!

Just quit on a good term.

  7. Make your statements about the future.  Your future desires should be (and sound) growth-oriented.

You might also thank them for the opportunities they've offered you (even if they haven't, think of what's in their minds as you're leaving).

  8. You owe it to any employer to give them the proper notice, and the only way to do that is to tell them BEFORE you leave.             I have seen people write a letter of resignation and leave it on the boss's desk, basically saying, "Thank you so much for the opportunity. I have decided to resign my position effective (whatever day) to pursue other interests.  Thank you again.  Blah blah blah."
