How to redo kitchen cabinets? ?

First is it hard to install new cabinets? I want to put new cabinets in our kitchen and my husband is not handy at all! I have asked for install quotes and get anywhere from $59-100 per cabinet to install.. I think we can do it but he is all about hiring someone.. ( laziness I think) So how do you go about installing these after the demo of the old-- we are getting new countertop/sink as well

You will need a 4 ft ladder and then measure, measure and then measure.  Once the walls are cleared of the old cabinets you want to find where the studs are for the new ones to be fastened to.       Man handle in the lower half and put into place and s***w into wall.       Then lay on a  sheet of plywood on top (instead of the counter top) so that you can set a wooden box spacer(that you would have built) that would hold the upper cabinet on top of it.   Set the upper where you want it and s***w away.   Take support away. and then you can put on your counter top and s***w that down to lower cabinet.

Its not hard if you have the tools to do the job sometimes the hardest part of a job is preoeration also read plenty of material and buy a book on insalling cabinets to troubleshoot some problems good luck

1) find the high point on the floor.

2) check plumbness of walls

3) check for bows etc. in walls

4) compensate for 1 and 2 and 3

5) place lower cabinets

6) put up a "shelf" (a 2x2 will do) that is level to hold the upper cabinets

7) repeat steps 2 and 3 for upper part of wall

8)compensate for 7

9) install upper cabinets

10) measure and install counter top

It's a real bummer when after installing 8 cabinets you go to put the last one in and it is 1/2 in above the others because the floor has a high spot!

Or there are gaps between the cabinets due to a bow in the wall, etc.
