My baby is 3 months, I have been breastfeeding but I went back to work when she was 2 months. Even though I pump at work, the milk supply has decreased. My goal is to breastfeed at least 6 more months, but I have been having to supplement. What can I do to keep up with her appetite????

  1. nurse as often as she wants when you are together and make sure to pump as often as she would feed when you are away from her.  Get plenty of fluids.  You could try some mothers milk tea and fenugreek.  Also eating oatmeal always helped my supply.   Good job on nursing, keep up the good work.

  2. Usually I find from the moms I've worked with that the problem is that the baby is being overfed when mom is away.  Then the baby doesn't nurse well when mom is home so mom has an even harder time keeping her supply, and also mom has to pump more milk than she normally would.

I'm not pumping enough milk. What can I do?

  3. feed the baby as much as possible when you are with her. You will never get as much from a pump as you do from the baby feeding. Try pumping after each feeding and at the end of the day put the milk together and maybe it will be enough for one feeding or more. and it is normal for your milk to decrease as your body adjusts to the baby's needs.

the fenugreek might be good for you too like the person up top said you take 3 pills 3 times a day you will smell like maple syrup! The tea is horrible so I wouldn't go there in less you like black licorice.
