I have a kicker 2500.1 amp i want to run at two ohm's to two twelve inch subs. I know that i'm probably gunna need a separate battery. The guy i bought the amp up said something about don't use different kinds of batteries that is how i blew up the amp. Now the amp has been repaired at stereo west. I want to know how to wire it so it won't blow the amp and so i have plenty of power! do i buy a 12 volt? or a car battery? or what kind of battery? and where would be the best place to buy the battery? Thanks let me know asap!

  1. Another battery, really?? I mean, uhh?

Just get a more powerful alternator fitted to your car! Easy and safe!

  2. DON'T add a battery to a stock charging system

your alternator is what keeps your battery charged to send power to your amp, so if you need more power then you need to upgrade the alternator-- if you add a battery to a stock charging system you will just put more strain on it because the stock alternator will now have to charge two batteries

this is what you need to do

1-upgrade the big 3 wires (all of the wires in your charging system to 4gauge)

2-New battery (Kenetic-high current car audio power cell  or  Optima battery-yellow top)

3-if your light still dim you need to get a High Output Alternator or get a second alternator mounted (two alternators will slightly affect you engine power from the extra friction of spinning another alternator)
