How to set up wireless router???

I bought a 'D-Link DKT-710 Wireless G ADSL2 Starter Kit' from Currys a while back. I tryed to set it up but struggled, I really do not understand with the 'DSL' part where you plug it into a internet port. As I use the internet port that the internet is connected to the internet collapses. I tryed using a double thing for both the internet and the router wire to plug into but that didn't work either. Just wondering do you need to use a separate internet port from the one I am currently using just for the internet? Or can I use the same Port? Please help!

  1. The DKT-710 has a built in DSL modem. It has to have the DSL/telephone line connected to that input to work. The means it will replace your current modem.

Yes when you first connect it, you will loose the DSL connection. You have the set the router/modem to work with your DSL provider. It may require your DSL provider to assist you since that connection is different than your current modem.

Some providers only require you to input your username and password (PPPoE)  which is a setting within the DKT-710 others may require you to register the new MAC address of the modem.  You have to set up the DSL as your ISP specifies.. some cases you will have to call them to see what is needed.

Once all that is correct, your router will work.
