  1. you either have it or you don't.

I'm sure you've seen fighters with tons of talent and all the tools but get in there and just get out willed by a lesser opponent that simply will not take no for an answer.

  2. yoga

  3. Love the sport put your heart out there for the sport and try your best. You know what get's me into the fighting spirit before i box is watching great boxing matches. It gets me pumped up and ready to go.             Paquaio vs. Marquez March.15

  4. you don't it is something you have or you don't have. if it is in you it will come out after you start to train.

  5. I think of “spirit” as HEART, the WILL TO WIN. It can’t be taught and, unlike stamina, it can't be enhanced by training.  You either have it or you don’t.

When I think of heart, I think of Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, Rocky Marciano, Arturo Gatti and many others.  These guys never went into the ring thinking they were going to lose and, just as important, they did everything they could to prepare themselves to win.  Then there is Mike Tyson, who never won a fight after he got hurt and got behind and whose preparation was sometimes suspect.  My one-time hero Roberto Duran lost more than a fight when he quit in his rematch with Sugar Ray Leonard due to a “stomach ache” or (as he later claimed) because he didn’t want to fight with a clown.

A fighter’s heart can only be tested by adversity, so it is difficult to assess the hearts of fighters who have never experienced it.  But those who have and came through are rightly regarded as great fighters, and some of them have won championships.  Some fighters who lacked the heart to fight back when the chips were down may have won titles, but, IMO, they were never Champions.
