Question:

How to study the drivers handbook?

I plan to take the Maryland's drivers test saturday. I have read only a little bit of the book. Does anyone have experience on ways to easily remember the necessary things that will be on the test? Is the test hard? What will I need when I get there?

  1. In college, I was taught that the best way to study is by doing an outline of the material thus keeping the important information foremost in your mind. Just writing the important stuff down on paper helped me remember it. Good luck on your test.

  2. Read and understand the whole book and get a friend to help quiz you.

The test is very simple if you understand the book.

All applicants for an initial MD Driver's License, Learner's Permit, or ID Card must present the following documents (choose from A, B, or C, plus D):

    A. Birth certificate, court change of name order, or valid foreign passport or valid INS document,  plus one additional primary source of identification with the applicant's signature; OR

    B. Birth certificate, court change of name order, valid foreign passport or valid INS document, plus two additional secondary sources of identification, one of which must contain the applicant's signature; OR

    C. A document or documents with the applicant's full name and signature if digital image is on file with the MD MVA and is retrievable for identification purposes; PLUS

    D. Two proofs of Maryland residence.

    E. Learner's Permit School Attendance Form.

    F. Money

Rules as when to engage a turn indicator, speed limits, what to do when approaching another vehicle, right-of-way, courtesy, reading road signs and how to change lanes or pass properly.

  3. The test is road signs and common sense. Good luck.
