How unfair is this?

The star of our Varsity team (he's going into his senior year) is 6'5" and 230 lbs. He made it to the New York All-State Team as a sophomore, and averages 30-ish pts, 15-ish rbs, and 15-ish ast per game. He dunks like crazy, shoots the lights out, and is beastly strong. He's D1 basketball material.

But do you know what happened this summer? He was offered early admission to St. John's to play D1 baseball and he took it!!! Baseball over basketball!!!

If I was that good, I'd have gone and played D1 basketball. What do you think?

  1. I think he's entitled to go play at St. John's if he wants to.  Doesn't matter what the rest of us think - it's his life.

  2. If he has intentions of going pro - I don't think it's that crazy of an idea.  While you need to be good to advance through the professional baseball circuit, it's harder to make it as a pro in the NBA.  Think about it - there are a lot of college basketball players who are good, but only 60 players from 250+ teams can get drafted.  The MLB draft is 20+ rounds and teams usually have to fill 5+ minor league teams with players.  If your school's star wants to continue playing sports after high school, then I think it makes sense to choose basketball.  However, college basketball looks like one of the more fun sports to be a part of (because of the tournament), so it really depends on what his future plans are.

  3. this is very unfair, but it was his decision, good luck in baseball then to him

  4. If someone can average 30, 15, and 15 during his junior year in a awesome basketball state (New York), he should've definitely waited for basketball scholarships.  But if he likes baseball more, good decision on his part.

  5. shoulda done basketball

  6. why do you care, like the guys said above me, its his life.

  7. its his life

  8. Well from what you're saying it sounds like he's making a big mistake, but i don't know how good he is a baseball. So I think he's just going for the money.

  9. Baseball is an easier game than basketball. He didn't want to get embarassed playing college basketball.

  10. wow that is unfair if u think about it but hey its him and his life hopefully he play as good in baseball as he does in basketball
