There are two  elements are at work when the mind is functioning.Subjective element and objective element.The intuitive action of the mind is very difficult to be predicted by others which depends on the individuals nature of activities.The functioning of the objective element is the physical functioning of the that part of brain which is made up of flesh blood etc which only can be scientifically demonstrated.The complete knowledge of the truth of the mind is very difficult  but can be understood.

The perfect and joint team works of all the nerves makes the mind healthy and comfortable.  Any defect at any point, may affect the mind.  The senses are directly connected with it.  The mind is controlled by 'attention' or care.  When we care something with special emphasis, we loose our feeling of self and would be after that particular thing, which is the secret of success.   Then what is mind, there is only one answer which I do know, is that - as per ancient Indian Science, there are 5 matters (not elements) - (liquid, solid and gas) which are named as 'earth', 'water', 'air', 'fire' and the 'sky' ( Prithwi, Jal, Vayu, Agni and Aakash ).  Our physical body derived from the earth, water and air and the fire makes it with temperature and the mind is sky and thus - the human body is a powrful close-up of the Universe, while all lively being, humen, animals, birds, flies, up to pests trees and so on,  are made up of these 5 matters, visibly different, but feeling of 'myself' controls them to interact one another.  Of-course, it is very difficult to digest for an ordinary live, which is the secret of the existence of this Universe.  

body and mind are controlled by energy and energy is controlled by emotions which is called 'Guna' - virtual characteristics - thus the chapter begins.   Just go backwards so as to find out what controls the emotions - human thoughts - they are the Kam (lust) , Krodh (Anger), Moh (desire), Mad (Garv/Ahankar) , Lobh (micer) and Matsarya (competition).  These are controlling the mind.  Accordingly mind switches on the body and body starts activating.
