Norwich City manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 Hughton was left disappointed after his side suffered a 1-0 defeat against Newcastle at the Sports Direct Arena last night.
This was Hughton’s first trip to Tyneside after his sacking as Newcastle boss back in December 2010. Hughton had been appointed as manager following Newcastle’s relegation in the 2009-2009 Premier League season.
Hughton led his team to the Coca-Cola Championship and immediate promotion back into the English top flight, and was responsible for the famous 4-4 comeback against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and the 5-1 thumping of Sunderland. However, he was dismissed in a surprise move
in December that year and was succeeded by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew, a very unpopular move at the time.
The Norwich boss was received well by the United fans, and he was pleased to get such a warm reception from the home crowd. However, he was left disappointed by the result.
Norwich had played well for most of the 90 minutes, but had conceded a goal in the first half. Striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Demba-Ba-c10812 had finished off from a lofted through ball to give the Magpies the lead.
Newcastle had the chance to extend their lead when they were awarded a penalty before half time, but Papiss Demba Cisse fired over the bar as he failed to make it 2-0.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Canaries-c38723 had their moments in the game, but were unable to score a goal. Andrew Surman and Wes Hoolahan came close, but that was it.
Norwich have only scored two goals this season, and Hughton believes that his side need deserve some luck for their performances. Speaking to the media after the game, he said:
"We knew we were going to come up against a Newcastle team that has great quality, so there is probably a bit of frustration that we conceded the goal we did. But we stuck in there and showed a lot of spirit and determination.”
"It is just our work in the final third and having that little bit of fortune, and possibly we need a penalty to go our way or a deflected goal or an OG.”
"We are certainly playing the right way, pushing teams and trying to get those elusive goals, and I am sure that if we keep playing the same way they will come."
