http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 FC. The player’s current contract will run out in
the summer and he will be a free agent then. Therefore, the club risk losing him for free when his deal expires in June.
The Gunners are reported to be following the 29-year-old’s progress. As a result, the Royal Blues have reiterated their desire to hold on to their prolific goalscorer and has urged him to commit his long-term future at the
Veltins Arena. The Dutchman’s future has come under intense speculation since the summer transfer window.
Club supervisory board chairman Clemens Tonnies had a meeting with the Dutch star’s agent, but nothing was concluded from the talks. However, there is some progress and the only obstacle now is about the contract duration.
The club are offering two additional years, but the forward is holding out for at least three.
The club official insisted that he has tried to meet some of the attacker’s demands, and now it is up to him to decide whether to accept or reject the proposals. Nevertheless, he warned the striker to give his decision quickly
or the terms of the contract extension will be nullified.
"I have offered a certain compromise, but I also said Klaas-Jan has to quickly decide in favour of Schalke, otherwise we would do better to end those talks," the German entrepreneur was quoted as saying in an interview.
"It is true; Arnold [Oosterveer, Huntelaar's agent] was at Veltins-Arena lately,” the sports official added.
“An important meeting has taken place. However, I am not able to say more on it right now," the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues chairman finally concluded.
Huntelaar will get a pay increase from £4.8 million to £5.7 million if he agrees the new deal. He moved to the Miners from AC Milan in August 2010 for a fee of £10.5 million.
