Okay so I understand that there is a hurricane in key west late monday/early tuesday, but I was wondering if anyone knows if its going to spread to orlando. Does anyone live in orlando and heard anything about it spreading to there? Should I cancel my trip? thank you.

  1. First of all, it's not a Hurricane (at least not yet); just a Tropical Storm.  It's projected path takes it to the west coast of Florida in the Gulf of Mexico.  Eventually it will take a turn back to the east - back out to the Atlantic where it will die out.  If it cuts across the Tampa area in a north-east direction, that would put it toward Orlando.  It may or may not be a Hurricane at that point.  It's too early to tell or project it out that far.  South Florida will definitely be effected tomorrow, tomorrow night and Tuesday morning probably.

  2. Don't cancel your tip. I live in Key West and its only rain and wind. Its supposed to hit tampa as a category 1 hurricane but I highly doubt its gonna get much harder. Go on your trip and have fun.

  3. Dont cancell your trip, its not even a hurricane, and it shouldnt spread that far unless it gets stronger very soon

  4. If you're in Orlando you will feel the effects. You will have a lot of rain, and some wind.  But do expect a lot of rain. I would wait until after this week to take a trip. Think about it logically, look at the radar of Faye on tv, its just one big circle, one big ball of stuff right?  Well think about that big thing hitting the keys and it will slowly break apart and it will move northward as a bunch of rain showers and storms.  So yes, it will be a lot of rain for Orlando...

  5. According to NOAA today it is only going to be a tropical storm.  It looks like it might hit Tampa as a hurricane, but only for a short while.  It changes all the time.
