So any tips on what to do or anything?

  1. don't be nervous bc your horse will sense it and probably spaz out if you seem tense. listen to your instructer and pay attention to what they say.

  2. awesome good for you i promise you will love it.lol. i know i do i just wish i still could still keep riding well here some tips 1 when going behind a horse stay close to it put your hand on its back or no the tail and say behind you so that way he won't get spooked...other than that you should be ok

  3. You will have a lot of fun! I know it because most people love it and you've really got something to look forward to because just being on  a horse is so much fun and for the first time you'll have a blast! So, expect to have fun! ...And if you're riding western, just keep your heels down and don't put your whole shoe in the stirrup, just the tip. ALWAYS stay attentive to the horse and (if you have one) the instructor (like said before) and don't kick REALLY hard or else you'll go uncontrollably fast (for your 1st) and don't be afraid to kick the horse to get him going (gee I had trouble with this one...) but horses are quite easy to ride at the beginning, just remember that there are not a lot of rules for you to remember so don't worry yourself with them. Just kind of read them and if you get into any trouble you should remember. Just listen and have the time of your life!

  4. Heels DOWN not to the sky. do not grip with knees, use lower leg. And........ have fun!!!!!!!!!

  5. cool just hold on until you get used to the horse and remember your the boss don't be attemdated the horse can feel if you r cool

  6. Hello

good for you, i remember the 1st time i went riding.. well actually i dont because i was 4 lol, i actually went yesterday!.

well, you sit up straight, point your heals to the sky, hold the reins (things to steere) with your thumb weaving into your pinkey, bring an apple for afterwoods to say you were a good buy/girl, dress to the weather and have as much fun as possible, canter 4 me!

  7. Hi!

I've been riding for quite a while. It's always a pleasure even on a silly horse! There are many different styles of riding. You will most likely just be riding for pleasure. A very fun thing to do! If you will be riding English which is great you might want to consider this:!

-Sit up straight, good postures always important!

-Sit deep in the saddle, it's always a good thing to do!

-Keep your heels down and toes up.

-Don't try to twist your ankle so it hurts, it's not very nice in the morning

-Sometimes you might have an urge to lean forward, remember good posture!

-You should squeeze with your knee up on the horse it might make your thighs hurt but that's a good thing, especially if you want to ride a lot. It really helps not to fall off!

-Don't flap you arms, you're not a bird, be a plane. Planes rock :] jkjk You should hold your arms and hands steady and depending on the horse you'll rest your hands on the withers, which is the horses highest point on his back in front of the saddle.

-Be confident. You sound excited, be excited all day :]

For western, you should do about the same thing haha :] the only difference really that you should even think about is there's a horn on the saddle, the stirrups(the things you put your feet in) are usually longer, it's a bigger seat/saddle.

    Everything else is really important.

    Quick checklist:

    _sitting straight

    _heels down toes up

    _relax and have fun

    _be steady

What you should wear is long pants that cover your entire leg, jeans work. One time a girl wore shorts and was riding and her leg got cut up. Any type of shirt you like! Some kind of shoe that does not have a heel, but the best type of shoes are usually boots with about two centimeter heels. If I were you I'd wear comfy jeans/sweats, gymshoes, and a shirt.

Most barns require people to wear helmets, others don't.

    I hope that helped!

  8. Well, it sort of depends on what you are doing.  Are you having a riding lesson, or going on a trail ride?  Make sure you have a helmet and wear long pants.  You should also try to wear boots with a heel.  Push your heels down so your feet don't fall out of the stirrups, and sit up nice and tall so you don't fall forward.

If you are going on a trail ride, you will probably be put on a horse who just plods along behind the horse in front of him.  They will explain how to turn and stop the horse.  (It's a little different for each style.  But basically pull on the left rein to go left, right rein to go right, and pull back on both to stop).

If you are having a riding lesson, you will probably work at lot of steering and stoping.  You may also do some trotting or jogging.

    Have fun!

  9. that's cool bareback is fun.you really just go with the horse but watch out for when they spook..i hope that you have an idea of how to steer them tho

  10. all i can say is have fun sum ppl r born w/ thast talent n some ppl have to work, either way ur gonna have fun 4 sure

  11. BE EXCITED! Riding is a lot of fun. 1 thing is, if your nervous, the horse will be nervous. Any experienced rider will tell you that. If you are just going to a barn to ride a lesson horse, don't expect to find any type of champion. Usually (just in my experience) a lot of lesson horses are used to just going in a circle or on a certain trail. You probably won't have to do much steering and all that. If you are going on a friends horse, you might have a lil more control, in which case is more fun. If you ever feel uncomfortable always grab hold of your rein and bring it back to your leg (like your turning him) his head will fall back and he will not be able to move at all. This gives you the advantage to get off or regain control. HAVE FUN@ going on a 1 1/2 airplane ride. I've flown before, but get very bad anxiety. Any help? terrified of take fuN!!

  12. Okay, I'm taking it that this is just like a get on and ride a horse sort of thing? Right? Well, if it is, then most of the horses will probably be beginner type ones (like get on and they won't give much of a fuss). The best thing I can tell you besides telling you to put your heels down, sit up strait kind of thing, is to stay relaxed (don't grip the horse with your legs, crunch up into a ball, pull on the reins when not nessesary, ect.). Also, listen to the proffesinal that is with you (don't go doing something your not sure about, and if your not, don't hesitat to ask), and don't get cocky about your riding skills (this may be your first time on a horse, but just because someone tells you something like, "your doing great," or "best I've seen all day," doesn't mean your now the best and you can do anything.  This is how people get hurt.).   Remember to pat the horse every time he/she does something you want, horses enjoy being rewarded for their work.  Wouldn't you?  I  hope you have fun riding tommorow, who knows, maybe you'll want to do it more often.

  13. i assume it is a trail ride .... listen to ur guide they will give you answers you will need and do not feel dumb to ask them questions. trained horses for trail rides will follow each other you need not do much. do not let your horse stop to eat if they dip head gently pull up on reins. keep your arch of foot in stir ups never jam whole foot in stir up.keep one hand on reins and one on "horn". and if they get you to canter/ trot slightly stand in stir ups use knees cushion movement you dont want to "bounce" on saddle or you wont be sitting for a week. wear jeans and good boots or shoes. AND LISTEN to your guide

  14. You probably won't be doing too much since it will be your first time riding a horse, but if you are riding English (don't bother listening to most of these tips if you are doing Western lol), I do have a couple tips for you.

    - Stay relaxed

    - Sit up straight

    - Look forward, not down and look where you want to go if you are turning

    - Keep your heels down, toes up

    - Keep your hands low and lite

    - Have your elbows bent at your sides

    - Hold the reins with your 3 middle fingers, have your thumb on top of the reins, and your pinkey on the underside of the reins

    - Listen attentively to your instructor (also stay attentive to the horse)

    - Have fun =D

That's about it for now, since it will only be your first lesson,  you will probably mostly be walking, and possibly a little bit of trotting. Your insructor will tell you everything you need to know and do. Good luck, and I hope you have fun!
