Ok I am 15 and going to get my permit, and I am getting nervous and scared to get behind the wheel.

When I was 14, my uncle took me to practice, and then I went from the driveway onto the grass and now whenever I think about driving and getting my permit I get scared, but I also want to get my permit. I don't know how to overcome this

  1. I was scared too.  You need to take driving lessons.  The first few times you will be really nervous...but the instructor has brakes on his side in case you make a mistake.  After a few times you will be a pro.  If you still get nervouse after the lessons are over then you could always take a course in defensive driving....this teaches you to avoid accidents caused by other people.

Good luck and relax....you will do great.

  2. ask someone CALM to coach you and explain them your situation.

try an empty parking lot and really calm side streets until you feel safe again. you can also try parallel parking there.. since you won;t hit anything.

    :)

    good luck

  3. well to overcome something you have to do it again... you will be fine  just take your time  you will be nervous we all are when we do something like this...remember the first time you went to the Dr  well you didn't know what was happening  and you were scared to death well it sorta like that   .. so now when you go you know no one is gona hurt you  and you are more comfortable   this will be the same way   the more practice you get the  calmer you will be   .....after a while you will be a pro    .. don't get distracted  you will be fine  Ill even say a prayer for you.. Have a great day and let us know how it turns out for you...

  4. That was then.  Now just be careful your understanding is much better now.

  5. Practice and with time you will overcome this and if not then you may need to see a doctor

  6. Relax, you can do this...To get your permit, you have to pass a couple of tests on the road signs and rules of the road in the state where you live...No driving is involved...Study and understand the driver's handbook - that's where the test comes from...When you go to get your permit, a parent or guardian must go with you and you may need an attendance record from school...The driver's handbook for the state where you live has all the details...Pick one up at the DMV or take a peek online.

If you don't feel comfortable taking instruction from a relative, I strongly recommend that you pay a driver school to teach the correct way...The good ones will guarantee that you pass...Check your phone book to see who has what in your area.

    All the best.

  7. Invest a few dollars and take a few lessons from a professional Driving Instructor at a recommended Driving School. Make sure you tell them your fears and concerns. Make sure also, that you employ a Driving Instructor who listens and helps you in a positive way.......otherwise get another instructor.

Once you have learned the basics you will begin to feel more skilled and confident with practice.

Practice in quiet areas first.....say a large parking lot early on a Sunday morning for example.

As you build your skills and confidence you can then gradually build your skill level to enter busier roads.

Take your time. We are all individuals. We all learn at our own level.

And..............enjoy this new "life skill"..............learn good basic skills and form safe habits......you will be driving for many years to come.............

    Embrace this new challenge!!!
