I am an Apple tech

I am an Apple tech support rep, and have a customer on the phone line.

He has a Mac with OS X 10.5.5.

He tried to open certain documents with attachments, and for some files he gets a message that the files can't be opened because they're in the wrong format

Is this an apple issue or a known yahoo issue?
