I've got a strange problem that I often don't recognise people at all. If I know someone really well its fine but, its stuff like I had my daughters parents evening then a few days later her teacher came in to shop wherer I work and I didn't know who she was 'til someone said. Its happened loads. people srat chatting to me and I just have to admit that I haven't got a clue who they are! Then they'll say stuff like 'I live next door to you' its really embarrasing. Has anyone ever heard of this or know what I can do about it

  1. iv heard of it before one man could not reconize his own daughter

  2. it seems you have a short term memory problem, how about doing some memory exercises like watch a film and then write down as much as you can remember and then watch it again to see how much you rember that sort of thing, if you can increase memory in one area it may help in this area, good luck, maybe also you should talk to a gp or somthing to see if they have encountered anything like it and if they can help.

  3. I do the same thing. Luckily, my adult son is often with me when I am out where I see people. People know me, I have no clue as to whom they might be. My son, on the otherhand, knows everyone! He tries to bring in 'hints' as to their identity while he speaks to them. I am so horrible at this. What you said about the next door neighbor would be a example of what I go through, as well. I am healthy. Good luck!

  4. Maybe I know where your problem is. When you meet someone, especially for the first time, look him/her in the face. That way you'll memorize his/her features. If you're looking around when you meet people no wonder you won't recognize them later.
