I get bad growing pains!!!?

im 14 and small for my age. for as long as i can remember my legs or arms would ache really bad. when i told my mum she just said it was growing pains and that i'd grow out of them but i never did. what else could it be? am i actually growing? what can cure it?

I'm the same age as you and i get really bad growing pains in my legs. I have done since i've been little too my mum said they were growing pains as well. I used to get a cold flannel and put it on my legs helped the pain and take paracetomal. Boot used to do a special cream which was for childrens "growing pains" but i can't seem to get it anymore. I don't get it as much now so maybe it is from working too hard like running alot or something, so maybe you'll grow out of it. Hope I've helped. x :)

I use to get growing pains in the "lower region", but i looked at the brightside :P

If I was you I would seek the advice of a doctor, if you are suffering these pains constantly.

My mum regularly told me that my bad ankles were growing pains, I actually have mild arthritis, which I did not eventually discover until a yr ago when I was 27 and thought I cant still be growing.

As for your growth everyone grows at different rates and sometimes have spurts people do not stop growing until the age of 21yrs.

But also if you saw your Dr you could explain your concerns and they would look into it all.

"Growing pains" is a myth.. they aren't really there. its just something adults say to give random aches and pains a name. Hehe.

Yes it is true that there is really no "growing pains", but they call them this because they tend to hit children and teens that are still growing. It is caused from all the daily activity- running, jumping, etc. during the day and by the end of the day or even sometimes in the middle of the day it causes pain in the muscles.

For some people it can be the beginnings of an underlining disease. In my case I found out I had Rheumatoid Arthritis as a child, and Fibromyalgia as an adult. Not fun.

My Daughter has "growing pains" really really bad and has been going thru this for over 4 years now almost everyday of her life she hurts in her legs and sometimes even her arms and chest.

I will eventually get her tested for arthritis too if it continues into adulthood.

Ok things that help are a really warm bath or shower, massaging the leg area, deep heat rubs, ice, and just getting rest. Tylenol, Motrin, and inflammatory can help if it gets too bad.
