Question:

I got an expander?

I just got my expander today. Right after I left the Orthidontist with my dad, we went to a resturant to eat. While I was eating, lots of food got stuck up between to gap from the expander to the roof of my mouth. To get the food out from there, I had to make this sound, with sounded like a hissing cat. I really dont want to have to do that when I go back to school. Any suggestions on how to not get food stuck up there? Or are there actually ways to keep things from getting up there?

Thanks In Advance.

  1. I have an expander as well, and I know it's a real pain. My thoughts are to deal with it, and when you take it out to brush your teeth after (You're supposed to brush your teeth after every meal, my orthadontist says) just clean it out then.

Presonally, I cannot stand it... I don't eat with my expander in, although I know it is not good.

  2. I have that kind of expander

and I do make the sound when I am at home

but in public you just sorta have to eat your meal

then go to the bathroom to make the sound or

    take the expander out and

either eat the food on it

    or pick the food out

unless you can do the sound with out

    opening your mouth

because then it is not as loud

  3. brush your teeth more often.
