In Major League baseball, why were the coaches boxes added to foul ground? I heard something about coaches in the early years, trying to steal the catchers signs, by moving to a point where they could get a view. True or False? And even now, the umpires don't keep the coaches with the marked areas.

actually the coaches wear helmets and may not leave the white marked area for that reason

that is exactly right. the reason for the coaches going anywhere they want now is because they can do whatever they want.

that would be a big TRUE. Coaches have always done their best to steal signs. Notice when an opposing team has a runner on 1st or 2nd the catcher usually will look into the dug out to get the next pitch call, or they will change the signs, usually the catcher will come out to the mound and get with the pitcher through that series and make the changes.
