I have a new western

Question

I have a new western digital usb external hard drive. I attached it to the computer and the computer recognize the drive (it was already formated). I started transfering files and then the computer locked up. Now it wont see the hard drive. I moved the hard drive to my laptop and it wont see it either. What can I do.
