I have a simple grammar question?

When you type "White house" in an essay, do you capitalize "house"?

Sorry if this is a somewhat dumb question.

If you are talking about the government, White House.then becasue it is actually the name of a particular house yes you would capitalize the "H".

If you mean the place where the Prez lives, then Yes, you do capitalize House.

if is is just a house that is white, then neither word gets a capital.
