Should I take a job that pays considerably less than I am used to? I am still on unemployment till October, this job will pay a little more than I make on unemployment. I feel there is some room to advance with this company.

  1. You can find some helpful tips at:  http://www.jobsearchtop10.com

When you find a company that offers room for advancement and are sure it's legit, you should seriously consider the job.  Make sure you have the qualifications for moving up though as that open door can soon become a dead end.

If you are a professional there is a great resume service who can submit your resume to the right market niches.  You can check that out on the site mentioned above.  There is a small fee but there is also a money back guarantee.

If you are not a professional and you find a job that offers room for advancement, that means the company may be growing.  Do a little research on google.  Type in the company name and look for recent articles on the company in your local paper or on the web.  You can see first hand if the hiring they are doing is due to turnover or because they are doing well.

  2. Do you really need a answer to that?

YES! You should take a job that makes more than unemployment. I don't understand why people sit around and live off the government when they don't have to. (don't mean to sound rude in any way shape or form here). But it makes no sense. If you are unemployed and interviewing, people are going to ask about your previous job and why it ended and will see on your resume when it was. That doesn't look good to potential employers that you are willing to settle for unemployment for 10 months straight. It might seem a bit lazy.... like you are not a "go getter" or a very motivated person. My fiance and I ran our own business for years recruiting, interviewing and training people for the automotive industry (sales and finance)  which I did all the interviewing and recruiting ; and I can't tell you how bad it looks. It does, however, look awesome when you have someone that is working a job that pays less than what you know they can earn merely to get thru a tough time. Put your resume on www.careerbuilder.com, and search job listings in your area. I'd be spending every day out there looking for something. That's rediculous to go 10 months with no job. Are you even trying?

If you wanted a job today, I'll tell you, you can go to just about any car dealer in your area and start as soon as tomorrow making on average between $50,000 and $80,000 with potential to move up fast. A lot of older people have a bad outlook on the auto industry but it has changed considerably.

Hope I helped ya! :) Hope i wasnt too harsh either.

  3. Take the job. Long term unexplained joblessness doesn't look good.

And you will be making more money than Unemployment so that is good, plus it is good to have something to get up to do.

  4. When the economy is down sometime just to have a job you will have to take a step down but it is better than being unemployed.

If there is room to advance then I would definitely take it because that is one of the most important questions when looking for a job.  I would always a lower job with growth potential over a higher job with none.

  5. When I was unemployed I started a home based business that I was able to get off the ground before my unemployment ran out. The economy is tuff right now; being your own boss beats selling yourself short if you ask me. You can check this one out at:
