Honestly, my first thoughts would be burglar. Not ghost. If you can hear noise in the other room I would call the cops, not get on my computer and ask people for advice. If this is a serious situation I would recommend that you call 911 immediately for your own safety.

If you are positive that no one is in your house then I'm not sure what to tell you. Call Ghost Busters! =]
