  1. Minor anxiety in social situations happen to alot of people, but when it's excessive, you should talk to your doctor. My doctor prescribes me Xanax for PMS, so I only take it on those really bad days, but I notice my "social phobia" dissapears on those days as well, cuz I do have moments like you descibed, every now and then myself. So talk with a doctor- some people just have a chemical imbalance, that can't be "talked" away. Hope that helps...

  2. I dont have social phobia however I can relate to what you are saying.  The way to overcome this is to smile at people more, say hello to people that you have seen before but dont know, say something cheeky to people you have spoken with before and see how you get along then.  As for the crowd think of it as a shopping mall, you have to get from A to B and walk through the crowd to get there.

  3. What you described sounds like social phobia, if it is giving you problems in your life, then you probably need to get help for it, research it more and see what your options are. You can get anxiety medication, but you may want counselling instead of or in addition to medication. If you've felt nervous in social situations for a long time, it's not going to just go away, trust me.

How nervous you were from just seeing those people, and feeling nervous, like someone is always judging you, a lot of social anxiety comes from feeling like people are going to judge you in a negative way, which can come from low self-esteem, or if people have put you down in the past, such as bullying, or over-critical parents.

Also, having at least one friend at school can make you be less nervous. The ideal situation would be to have a friend in every class, however, I find if I am talking to someone in a crowded room I feel like everyone is listening to our conversation and judging us on it (that paranoia is a part of social phobia though).

I hope you get the help you need so you are not stressed when you have to be in social situations. Good luck.
