I just got my cartilage pierced....?

...if i keep it in for a few years, will the hole in my cartilage still be there?

and which way do you spin the ball to get the piercing off? it hurts?

  1. I don't know about how long the hole will stay there.  I've had second holes in my ears (lobes, not cartilage) that have never closed up even though I never wear earrings in them but when I take out my nose piercing, within minutes it starts shrinking.

    As for getting the ball off, if you got jewelry that is a straight bar, it would be like most other things...righty tighty, lefty loosey.  :)  If you take it out and decide later on to get it done again, get a ring with a tension ball in it (the ball has two tiny indents in it and the ring holds it in with tension).  You might have a tough time getting the ball unscrewed on your current piercing without pliers...piercers put them on pretty tight.  If you find that it hurts because it's infected at all, soak your ear in a mild solution of warm water and sea salt.  Almost always clears things up.

    On mine they just put one of the slidy backs on lol
