& I was wondering if I can just wear them nightly, instead of 24/7 for a certain amount of time before doing so? How will this affect my teeth?

  1. start 24/7 and than ask ur doc about nightly only

  2. A retainer helps your teeth because it's a tool that will not make your teeth crooked again.

  3. Just wearing them at night will mean the treatment will last longer. That's exactly what I did with mine. :]

  4. you have to wear them 24/7 or else your teeth will shift, wait till your ortho tells you to wear them at night only, i was at the shore this past week and i am told to keep them out while swimming, i put them on and they felt tight even after only 3 hours! just listen to your ortho

    help me with mine?

  5. Do what you were told to do because if you just got your braces off your teeth are more likely to move if they are not used to having no pressure on them. When i got my braces of like over a year ago I was told to wear it all day( -eating) then after a few months they told me to wear it less then I was told I could just wear it at night. Just make sure you wear it you don't want to have to get braces again =)

  6. The first year after the braces is the most crucial time for retainers. If you wear your retainers for 24/7 your teeth will defiantly stay in there new positions. If not they will shift. The thing about your teeth shifting is you won't notice it happening. You need to wear your retainer for 24/7 until directed otherwise by your orthodontist.
