I just got nhl 08?

how do i dress players so they can play in the games

Go to coaching options, edit lines, and click on any position to change players.  Once you do, your roster list will pop up.  Scroll down to the player that is scratched, and click whatever is the button to dress them ( use the X button for the xbox 360).  That will dress that player and normally mean you'll have to scratch another player as you'll be over the limit of game ready players.

When your on the main menu go to My NHL 08 and then go to "Edit Lines".
