Just starting out running. Looking forward to walking around the block for the first few weeks with light running in between. Anyone know where to find a good starting program.

  1. Nope.. but somethign to keep in mind. Every week you don't want to increase your training by more than 10%.

but id say... run by time. Start with a jog/walk.. 20 minutes. do that for a week. then slowly add 5 minutes... the slowly just turn to jogging.

ya know? you know when you're ready to move forward, itll feel right.

or as good as running can feel. hahaa

    loveit!

    goodluck :)

  2. A good start would be doing a light jog every other hundred meters. And work your way up by walking 100 meters to jogging 200 meters and then walk another 100 meters and so on, (you can also do this method by splitting the distance of the block up if you cannot calculate the meters and jogging 1/8 of the block to 1/4, to 1/2 ect.) all the way until you feel Comfortable to running around the block without walking,  after you conquer the block running by running the entire time try to work your self up to a block and a half and so one. Soon you will be able to jog around your block without stopping for as long as you please. Just make sure you find a good pace, and wear shoes that have a comfortable sole, because running on concrete can really give you some painful shin splints.
