I've been in an off and on again relationship with a guy for almost 3 years. We live in two different cities and we've tried the long-distance thing. If I can't have a functional, serious relationship with him then all I want out of this is a good friendship. Right now, he's going through some tough times and I'm really trying to be there for him, but he never wants to talk about what's going on. He only tells me bits and pieces. I feel like he's pushing me away, yet he acts like he still wants me in the picture. In general, I'm getting too tired of this and I think I should cut him off for good. However, he maybe too embarassed and just needs me there to support him. What should I do??

  1. i think you should stick it out with him as a friend or more then a friend,if your just friends right now maybe he doen't want to tell you all the problems cause he might be afraid that you might not want to date him later if he lets you into to his sensitive side, but be there for him it will strenghten the relationship and it really just sounds like he needs some to listen to him and be there for him even if he doesn't tell you everything just be there for him he needs you as a friend right now

  2. I think you got it right with the last sentence. He maybe too embarrassed and just needs someone to support him. So support him, that also shows you are a good friend. I know long distance relationships are hard, but the best thing to do is when you talk on the phone next time.... tell him exactly what you wrote here. Tell him you feel he's pushing you away and ask him why.

    Good luck.
