I need college help??????????

Question

I'm applying for colleges soon and I need some major help! To put it simply, I don't understand any of it! I know that I want to get a masters degree in Journalism, and that I want to go to the best college there is for it (you know, one of those colleges that impress the bosses). I don't even mind going out of country! But I just don't understand how to begin to start. I mean I don't even know the difference between graduate and undergraduate. If someone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

If you don't understand the difference between an undergrad and a grad... you aren't getting into one of the best colleges in the country.

You have to consider alot of things; money being the main thing. College is expensive and if you are planning to go longer than you Bachelors degree (4 years) then you're going to need alot of it...either that or lots of scholarships.

roughly speaking..

2 yeas= associates

4 years = bachelors

6 years = Masters

8ish years = Phd.

Get one of those college books from Kaplan or Princeton Review, talk to high school counselors stuff like that.

I don't why you would need to go out of the states for a good journalism degree. You really need to start researching colleges. And as a someone who wants to be a journalist you should get use to researching. Try your local library for a start. Find colleges that offer a journalism major. Check out what the requirements for admission are. See if your GPA, SAT?ACT and class rank meet requirements. Do you want a big or small college. You should go and visit some colleges.

You will need to go to a college for 4 years to get your Bachelors degree first. Once you graduate, you are then a graduate student and your next degree would be your masters.

You should talk with your college counselor - they can give you the best advice and answer all your questions.

Undergraduate means college, the first two to four years after high school.  Undergraduate degrees include:

-Associates: 2 years, community college, A.A.  People who get an Associates usually do not go on to higher degrees.

-Bachelors: 4 years, college or university, B.A. (Bachelor of Arts, inlcuding liberal arts) or B.S. (Bachelor of Science).  Bachelor degree are usually required before you pursue higher degrees.

Graduate means after you graduate college, and can take any number of years depending on your field.

-Law: J.D.  You will be trained as a lawyer.

-Medical: M.D.  You will be trained as a medical doctor.

-Masters: shows an advanced study of a certain field.

-Doctoral: Ph.D.  The title "Doctor" is applied to anyone with this degree, even if their field is not related to medical at all.  Usually denotes long-term research in a topic.

Don't worry so much about impressing future bosses.  Focus on what is best for YOU.  Which school best suits YOUR needs and goals?  Be the best you can be, instead of trying to fit yourself into a mold based on assumptions about what others want.
