I have a domain name bought and i was using Google site creator, but i don't like the format that it has and i am now looking for a html editor or something like that to help me make my site. I just want software to help me make a basic site with multiple pages.

I would prefer the software to be free or under $20

  1. do you have microsoft publisher? you can create HTML pages with that, also with notepad. you might also want to consider installing wordpress. it's really easy to create a website with their software, even if you're not blogging.

  2. You can get a free professional website with Microsoft Office Live Small Business - http://starturl.com/officelive . Currently, MS is offering a free domain name (i.e. yourweb.com) for the first year. It has 500mb of storage and no ads. It also has a free online web design tool that allows you to create web pages without coding. You can upload your own website as well - a good free software to use to do that is Nvu.

KompoZer is a FREE WYSIWYG <html> editor. I use this and i am very happy with it. There are some bugs thought.... But over all it's very good for being free.

  5. Take a look at getting Komodo (the free version) and purchase a good book.  Then go from there making HTML and such.

I will get flamed for this but honestly I don't care:

Most real good designers start off with something like Dreamwevaer or something like that.  Then they get in a rhythm and don't break away from the bloated code that it produces.  Then their site comes to a company like mine and I have to spend the next 2 days fixing all the bugs that DreamWeaver places in there to make it as quick as possible.

You're best bet is to get a book that teaches you XHTML / CSS.  Then start playing around with it, learning like that will be far more beneficial to you then just a drag and drop approach!

    Take care,

    Chad
