  1. It's how long the snow board is. You want it to come as close as possible to the bottom of your chin when standing vertical. The short the board is the more control you will have over it. The longer it is, the faster it will be essentially. However, a few cm's won't make that much of a difference.

  2. oh boy most of them give wrong information to me it seems..

yes the 148 or so is the height of the board, i dont know how tall you are but im guessing  your not that tall, you want your board to be between your chin and your nose, depending on what you'll be riding, slightly on the shorter end if your riding park and stuff, and slightly on the longer end if you'll just be doing free riding, carving, or powder..

I'm about 5'1 and i ride a 140 which i ride all park, its a slightly big board for me for park, but since i'm advanced and can control it its not a big deal, i'd recommend a shorter board for starting out no matter what your doing..

so if you can go to snowboard shop and test out some sizes, if you cant, the next thing you can do is mesure from yoru toes to your chin in inches then convert to centameters and find that perfect size board for you.

and when your buying a board, avoid burton, everyone thinks they are a good company, but just because they are well known does not make them good, i've had many problems and id avoid them, look at another company such as rome [highly reccomend], signal, ride, capita, and other top names like that.

    hope this helped

  3. The numbers you are reffering to is the size of the snowboard from tip to tail. Height and weight don't so solely determine the size snowboard you should ride, but it gives us a range of board to choose from. Every snowboard has a desired rider weight range. Ideally you want your weight to fall into the center of the weight range. For example, the snowboard I ride is a 157. The weight range on my board is from 140-180 pounds. I weigh 160lbs, which falls perfectly in the board's weight range. Weight is more important than height; height just helps compliment your weight. It is more important to have a snowboard designed for your weight, than having one in between your chin and nose. That is why on a snowboard label they have "rider weight" rather than "rider height". Your weight is what transfers the energy it takes to control the board.

To find out what size you should be, and anything else you need to know before purchasing a snowboard, refer to this buyers guide: http://www.sierrasnowboard.com/forum/for...

    Hopefully that helps!!!

  4. Well it depends on how tall YOU are and what you want to do with the board itself. If you're looking to go fast and just mountain ride, pick the 154cm because essentially it will be a faster board. If you're looking to freestyle, like myself (which is kickers, booters, rails, jibs, boxes) pick the 148cm because you will have better control over the board. If you're looking to just learn and have fun (which it sounds like) find which board fits better in the "sweet spot" which is between your nose and your chin when you stand the board on the ground.
