A series RLC circuit consists of 100 Ohm resistor, a 0.15 Henry inductor, and a 30.0 micro farad capacitor. It is attached to a 120V/60 Hz power line. ( Vrms=120V)

A) What is the peack current ( I max)?

B) What is the phase angle?

C)What is the average power loss?

  1. Here are all of the equations that are needed to do this problem. All you have to do is plug in the numbers and get the answers.

    Max Voltage:

    V(max) = V(rms) x √2

    Angular frequency:

    ω = 2πf

    Inductive Reactance:

    X(L) = ωL

    Capacitive Reactance:

    X(C) = 1 / ωC

    Impedance:

    Z = (R² + (X(L) - X(C))²)^(1/2)

    Peak Current:

    I(max) = V(max) / Z

    Phase Angle:

    ø = tan^-1 [ (X(L) - X(C)) / R ]

    Average Power Loss:

    P(avg) = ½ I(max) V(max) cos(ø)
