We took a trip for my son's 7th birthday, but are having a small party for him. Because his birthday was good friday...everyone was out of town, etc...so, finally we found a day & time that worked for everyone....and it's this Saturday. Well, since we went to the beach for his bday...he wants a beach theme party...but it might rain this weekend...so, we have to make the party at a local pizza place. So, I am making him a sand castle cake (white cake with graham crumbs & ice cream cones) & I am using pails & shovels as goody bags. I need a few ideas for details that I can use in a pizza place. What should I put in the pails since it was just easter & most parents don't want any more candy....myself included. Thank you for any ideas that you have!

  1. life is so difficult. huh?

  2. squirt guns, some kind of sand toy, bubbles, cool looking straws, a baseball cap???, sunscreen,  chapstick (they make boyish kinds now... or just plain ol' chapstick), maybe a beach towel if you can find ones cheap enough.... a seashell, toy boats, cheap flip flops (Target sells them for $1), and lifesavers???(lifeguard theme, i guess), a beach ball (blow up kind)

orientaltrading co. has some great items, maybe you could get some ideas from their website.... HTH - Have Fun! Great theme idea!!!

  3. a beach ball,   squirting toys,  bubbles,  beach coloring books and crayons,  stencils,  a visor,  sunglasses,  a coupon for a free icecream cone from the local icecream shop.   You could use small boats and shells one the tables for decorations,  Have every one wear flp flops and shorts.

  4. My kids love shells (listening to the ocean), star fish, crab stencils that kind of stuff.  Good luck with the cake!

  5. Have people come with swim suits explin that your not swimming  but it's just for the theme but if you use this make sure they know to wear clothes over that

  6. The suggestions already mentioned are great.

I would have a buried treasure theme for the pails. I would buy the treasure chests you can buy from Oriental Trading company and fill them with necklaces, gold foil coins, toys, etcetera and bury them in the sand in the pails I would put seashells on the sand and have an X marked on the sand like the ones you see in the map. The children can dig in the sand and find the buried treasure full of goodies. I'd probably have them do this outside or in an area safe to do the digging of the sand. Just an idea. Hope you find a good one!

  7. If you have a dollar store in town, fill the buckets with coloring books, kids' books, and crayons, as well as little toys.  What a nice Mom you are!

  8. go t your party surplus store and look at the beach fun kits. they have many things that you can put into your little pail.

  9. how about fresh fruit and toy cars. and games for the kids

and about beach towels would be good for them bring the beach inside. hope this helps you

  10. Stickers, matchbox cars and balloons to put in the pails instead of candy. Hope it goes well.
