I need help with names?

So my husband and I are having twins (one boy and one girl). Unfortunately after two months of arguing over names, we finally said I would come up with names for the girl, him for the boy.

These are the names we've each picked out:

GIRL:

Parker Lynne

Laurel Mavis

Reeder (Reed) Jane

Lucy-Jane

Scout Ainsworth

BOY:

Leland Edward

Jett Joseph

Jack-Henry

Perry Allen

This, I have decided was a bad idea, he has been picking out names like Jett, and Leland. Leland I thought was okay at first, and then all I could think of was Dog's braid-baring son Leland on Dog the Bounty Hunter.

Anways, he says he hates the names I've come up with like Parker, Reeder (Reed), Laurel, and Scout. He says that if I give up and let him name the boy whatever he wants, I can name the girl whatever I want.

I guess this just isn't what I had always picture baby name picking, ya know? I thought we were supposed to do it together but we can't agree. Should I give up the fight? Is there a way to come to an agreement?

  1. I would suggest that you come up with both names, together.  Both of the babies would be missing out on something.

I can't help you too much with what names, I'm not sure what he likes

By the way, I really like Jake-Henry, or just Jake Henry (and you call him both)  There a little boy named that where I work, and I've always liked the sound of the two names together! (eventhough Henry is his last name)

Parker Lynne is also nice (nice flow), Laurel is too.  Remember you don't necessarily have to pass the exact name down... For example, Marion Elizabeth is a name passed down a few generations in my family, but I'll be going with Miriam Elisabeth

  2. For the sake of your kids don't call them jett or scout.

They would probably get laughed at and bullied.

  3. I think you should try Lucy Jane & Jack Henry :]

    they're simple and cute : ]

  4. My fiance wanted to do that with our daughter but my feelings are the child or children are both of yours and you should pick the name together it took us forever to find my daughters name but eventually we agreed on something you both have to keep on making suggestions untill you both find one you can BOTH settle on.

I personally like Lucy and Perry or Jack

  5. I like the name scout for a girl and i dont no about the boy names

  6. Scout and Jett.

  7. not to fond of any of the girl names as for boys i kinda like Leland

  8. you could try him naming your daughter, and you naming your son, and see how that comes out. to tell you the truth, a lot of your names sound kind of masculine. i do like Lucy-Jane and Laurel Mavis.  Of his, i like Perry Allen and Jack Henry. Good luck.

  9. I say go with Lucy Jane and Jack Henry. These are cute names that are both simple and will be easy for the children and everyone around them. Just make it first and middle, not hyphenated.

See if you can get your husband to like Lucy Jane, and give in on Jack Henry...it's really not a bad name!

    Lucy and Jack...yep, sounds good.

  10. GIRL:

Parker Lynne-   sorry, Parker sounds like a BOYS name, not a girl.  It will bring confusion about whether the child is a girl or boy her entire life to people who hear it before they see her.

Laurel Mavis- Laurel is cute, Mavis doesn't match it though It sounds very old for a child's name.

Reeder (Reed) Jane- again, Reed sounds like a boy. It's to confusing.

    Lucy-Jane  -  this is cute

Scout Ainsworth- Scout, no. Sorry, but it's stupid sounding. Ainsworth sounds like a last name, not something you'd use as a first or middle.  What about Ainsley and as a first name??

    BOY:

Leland Edward-   this just screams NERD.

Jett Joseph -  The name Jett is just stupid. I know someone that named their kid this for a sports team. Everyone I know that also knows the family says the same thing "what a stupid thing to name your kid."

Jack-Henry-  Jack is ok by itself, as is Henry, but not together.  I'd consider these as first names with different middle names.  Jack Edward or Henry James would sound better that way then combined together.

    -

Perry Allen-  Sorry, but no on so many different levels.

  11. I love Parker but you and your husband should pick names you both like

  12. I love Perry Allen and Laurel Mavis! They are gorgeous and classy and so underused.

I think you should each go through a website and a book and make a list of all the names you like and then compare. You are bound to have a couple of the same or atleast similar names.

Other than that, I can't be much help. I do understand not wanting to use names that you both don't like though.

  13. Hey (:

Urrm I'm Sorry, But I Don't Like Many Of Those Names.

Lucy's Nice But Leave Out The Jane And Joseph's A Nice Name But Not With The Jett, Jack's Also A Really Nice Name But Without The Henry. Why Don't You Get Out A Baby Book Of Names Sit Down And Look At Them And See Which Names Stand Out To You Both, If You Can't Decide On Names. Then Decide When The Babys Are Born There Personality's Might Help You Think Of A Name You Both Like, And That Will Also Suit The Baby :D. I Hope This Helps And Good Luck With Your Pregnecy :D
