Where is the best place to stay?

Its our anniversary, would love any suggestions.

I want to lay on the beach and swim. Husband wants to go and explore. We picked a good place for that right?

When is the best time to go? Our anniversary is the end of May, we are planning for next year. If we can get a better price, we might consider going at a different time.

We will most likely be flying into San Juan.

  1. Puerto Rico is a beautiful place. San Juan is the city. It has everything modern & also Old San Juan which is historical w/ El Morro Fort.  End of May is a great time to go, its before hurricane season & its low season, cheaper prices. PR has plenty of places to explore like El Yunque rainforest- you can hike & swim in waterfalls. The bioluminescent bay, Rio Camuy Caves, Arecibo Telescope, Bacardi Factory, etc. Now I suggest renting a car & exploring on your own because its cheaper & everything is fairly easy to get too. Where u stay depends on what you like. You need to spend atleast 1 full day+ in San Juan to experience it. Staying there is up to u. San Juan has nice beaches similar to Miami beach, but they are not the best in PR. But SJ has shopping, restaraunts, casinos, nightlife, sights & more also. For the best  beaches you can go to Vieques & Culebra Islands. They are gorgeous but I wouldnt stay there the entire time b/c then you can drive to the sights I mentioned, only the biobay is in Vieques. Rincon is nice, Ponce is nice & Fajardo is nice. Look it up & decide what u like :)

  2. I went to P.R. to visit family seven years ago. We stayed at an Inn which was less expensive than the Hotels called, the Green Inn. But if you have the money, stay at a hotel, there are several that are lined up to the beach. Unfortunately the proliferation of Hotels along the Beach as limited public access to those portions of the Beach. San Juan doesn't have the Best Beaches in P.R., I hear the SouthEast portion of the Island has better beaches. I didnt like the tiny public access portions of the beach available to those who weren't staying at one of the big resorts. El Condado had better Beaches.
