The only aim you should be dealing with in order to talk or meet more people is to be you. I know academics who bore me and yet they are highly intelligent because its like talking to a book. Aim to be real.

aim to be yourself. You want to come across as false then so be it! If you can't think of what to talk about then learn to listen more. Instead of you trying to MAKE conversation why not just try and START a conversation, find out the other persons interests, job etc. you may find that you actually have a common connection that you can talk about
