Hello-

So im finishing my bathroom and was taping the new drywall for the first time.

I put the compound on, laid the tape, then smoothed the tape out.

the tape dryed nicely and according to the website that i was told how to

do it, i did not put a coat over the tape.

I have put 2 coats of primer on and you can still see the tape.

what should i do now?? More primer? can i tape again?

What should i do also if there are some minor bumbs from the compound still. Sand them?

This is frustrating

  1. Put another coat of compound on the wall where the joints are showing Wake sure you have great lighting while you are working. You want to make all joints and bumps disapear

  2. After the tape coat dries you need to fill the joints until the walls are smooth, this means applying a 2nd, and even a 3rd coat of joint compound. The drywall has beveled edges and this allows the compound to cover the tape. If it is your first time be prepared to sand a lot, the key is to put thin and even coats on, keeping sanding to a minimum.

  3. I always use self adhesive drywall tape---you stick it to the wall then put a layer of mud on, let it dry then sand. put another layer of mud on, let it dry then sand, put a 3rd layer on, let it dry & sand. done
