The answer to your question is no.Don't wait any longer and don't do it by internet...unless you live far away from her.Do it face to face.If she's worth asking she's worth asking face to face.

If you cannot see her for almost a year then there is no point in asking her out.

Logically You should go for a different girl. If you wont see her for a year then what is the point in waiting unless you know for a fact she will say yes.
