I saw one about 2 days ago in the bathroom and saw another today in my living room. I literally cried my eyes out for about 2 hours because I never had roaches in any homes I've lived in and I'm rather clean. My cousin told me to buy Combat b/c it worked for her, which I have done. My mother also said to try boric acid. I'm freaking out. Can't quite afford an exterminator right now. Not sure if I can even sleep here in my apartment tonight. Please tell me the Combat will work. I can't live with roaches.

  1. In our society we associate cockroaches with being dirty.  This isn't really the case.  They come for food scraps and water.  So even if you are a spotless housekeeper, you can still have them.  The only way to really get rid of them is with an exterminator, and have a repeat visit a year later.  In winter you will not get many, and they will not get into bed with you at night.  In summer, if you have one or two now, you will get swarms so save up and get an exterminator.  If you are renting, your landlord should be obliged to do it.  check out your lease.

  2. The Combat gel works wonders.  We had a problem with those little critters when we first moved in and after using the Gel, they were no more.

We have been roach free for almost 4 years now and I swear by the Combat Gel.  Key to it is to put it where you see them in a kind of out of the way place.  Don't go crazy with it, but put about an inch strip of gel.  Check it in a couple of days and if there isn't any, put more out, the same place.  Repeat as needed.

The last time we bought it, I think it was about 9 bucks for one tube. (More than enough, by the way).

Never had much success with boric acid.
