I think I work too much...?

I am a freshman, soon to be sophomore college student and I work practically full time at a clothing store. I don't work because I want to, but because I need to do so in order to make ends meet. I really want to quit working so that I can focus more on school and pursuing extracurricular interests, but I'm finding it a bit difficult to do. I have maintained a 3.5 GPA at the university I am attending, but I'm always exhausted. Should I take out a loan?

Also, my family income is less than $40,000. My mom only receives Social Security benefits because she is blind. And I have to work to buy food, gas, and personal items (shampoo and such).

What do I do?

  1. i don't see the shampoo and such thing need a detail explanation; so spend some money until you reach 2.75 dinars

  2. i would try to apply for work study at your college and if you are declined, i would go in there and put in a request for reconsideration... and they might award it to you.  (I work at my college university)

campus jobs are super easy and and super fun.  I, like you, used to manage a clothing store my freshman year.... and i was soooo stressed! so i quit, realized i had work study, and got a campus job at an office.  Now i have flexible hours and an easy job in which i can do my homework or study for tests.

if that doesnt work out for you, i would consider taking out a loan for your personal expenses.... i understand just how hard it can be!

keep up your hard work, it will all pay off in the end!

Lets face it, getting a loan with bad credit is hard. You should try for one yourself first, and then if you don't get approved, find a co-signer. These issues with credit created student loans for people with bad credit. There are different types of loans in this category, one being the signature loan. Signature loans are activated-->after the receipt of a signed activation letter. Such a loan does not require a co-signer or collateral like other loans. If you have bad credit or no credit, your parents can help by getting a PLUS loan to help pay your education expenses.

  4. Go to the financial aid office of your university and ask about scholarships and no to low interest student loans.  A 3.5 GPA is very good and should qualify you for some academic scholarship help.
