Question:

I think my cat is sick.

My cat seems to be acting strange. He is mowing excessively, almost non stop, his skin is a darker pink then normal, and he sometimes does this 'meow-hiss-meow' thing, and pants some times. My husband says he seems off balance as well, and shakes his head, and I've noticed he wants his ears scratched more then normal. We did recently move from NH to AZ, if that helps. I'm becoming very worried. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. sounds wierd but, but my cat acted wierd sometimes for a few days at a time, then he's fine, depending on how long it acts wierd, id give im a week and a half or so. if hes not acting better, id bring him to the vet

  2. Maby hes eating something toxic check around your house and surrounding property

  3. it sounds as your cat has ear mites.

The general symptoms of ear mites include:

Scratching behind the ear and inside the ear; A dark brown wax inside the ear; Plus other signs that are not visible without the special equipment a vet uses.

Ear mites are highly infectious little pests that feed on the lining of the ear canals. Because of their highly contagious nature, ear mites are especially common in shelter cats and kittens.

A quick trip to the vet can quickly determine if it is ear mites or something else, and to get the right medication for your kitty. Ear mites can be difficult to get rid of, so be persistent, and use the vet´s medication recommendation, and not the pet store variety

  4. He could have an ear infection or ear mites, but his other symptoms could indicate any number of things including like what King Kong Killer said, that he could have ingested a toxic plant or substance.

The only way to find out exactly what's wrong with your cat is to take him to  vet as soon as possible and get him checked over properly. he's obviuosly in a lot of discomfort and needs medical assistance from a professional.

I hope you find out what the cause is and hope he makes a full and quick recovery, poor kitty.

    All the best.

  5. Do you think he is not dealing well with the move? I had to adopt one of my cats out when we moved because he was dying because of the stress and the other cat totally lost his mind when we moved. Some cats do ok with moving and others don't. They can become sick. I do suggest getting him checked out just to make sure and give yourself a peace of mind. I hope he is feeling back to his old self soon. It maybe just take some time. Hold him alot and try to find a good routine with him, play with him a lot and just make sure he is eating and drinking and going potty.
