  1. The Kaw  250 is a good bike, the 125 may be hard to get rid of down the line.  Get a lot of ground support, parents, somebody to donate gas, oil, etc.,what ever you can get donated or help with. It is not a cheap venture. There are a lot of things to consider unless you are just going to ride locally. It takes a lot of support other than the bike itself. Can u adjust the fork tension, other things that might occur? If not have someone that can. Understand the mechanics of ur ride. There are a lot of things to consider. Tommy Hofmaster had never been on a bike until he was your age and started riding immediately. Height does not matter, Travis Pastrana (TP)  is not is not vertically challenged in any way,.shape or form and look what he has accomplished.

Before you buy, check out what is working  on the amateur/pro circuits Motocross/ Arenacross and and in the brackets in which you will be racing and above before you jump into things. Maybe your favorite color is Blue or Red  or Orange or any other manufacturers colors. Research, research, research. Put it all down on paper or in ur computer and then go for it. But, please do ur homework first.

Get some good, certified equipment for ur bod. Ride fast, ride hard but ride safe, at least until u know what u r doing.

      C U  on the whoops!

  2. So far everyone has given you some really good advice and I can only say pretty much the same thing.  Two choices 2 stroke 125cc ( not the option I would recommend)  or 4 stroke 250cc.  I would suggest the 4 stroke and any of the known brand 250f's would do very nicely.  You would get better resale value down the track for one of them and they would be the right size.

Also if you happen to be an Aussie (as this is posted in the Australian section)  you will need to do 5 hours of training with an accredited coach before you can apply for a race licence.  You need to join a local club to do this and once you have joined you can get paperwork from the race secretary to apply for a licence.  Once you have your hours up of coaching you can then race.  Your log book has to be presented at every race meet and will have coaching filled into it and any infringements that you may have racing and also any injuries.  You would get a junior licence at the age you are but would then only get to race the year out as a junior if turning 16 this year.  Once you are  16 you have to upgrade to a senior licence but can race the year you are in out.

It is a good idea to get your licence as a junior as it is a bit harder to get a first time licence as a senior.

  3. I was 15 and around 5'8 when i got my 125, now im 6'2 165 lbs... I grew out of it so fast, If i where you DON'T GET A 125!!!!!!!! A 250f honda has so much more.. smooooth power, with a 125 the power isn't really as smooth as a four-stroke,

a 250 is good for the beginner riders because they are bikes that are forgiving, have a lot of smooth power, you can grow into them, and aren't intimidating! they are so much fun. Don't make the mistake I did and think i needed a 125 to ride a 250f, 250fs are waaaaaaaaaaay better. Trust me.

  4. You have 2 choices, a 125 2 stroke or a 250 4 stroke, both race the same class. There are 2 schools of thought here. Some believe starting on a 125 2 stroke will make you a more aggressive rider than starting on a 250F. I do not agree with this at all. Wanting to win makes an aggressive rider in my opinion, not the bike. You will be at a huge disadvantage on the 125 and will have to relearn many skills once you finally move to the 4 stroke, which you will have to if you want to be competitive. I say just start on the right bike to begin with and never look back. That being said any of the 250F models would be fine, but as I've said before the Kawasaki KX250F is the bike to beat this year and has the best power delivery for beginner to intermediate riders. Good luck and have fun.

  5. get a yamaha yz250F
