INGREDIENTS for CHINESE CULINARY?

Question

I went to Beijing last month and had a small assignment

I need to identify some Chinese food with the taste and ingredients used

Around 3 to 4 dishes

Now I'm back from China but I have no idea what to write

Please help me, its due tomorrow

i can give you the basic ingredients used in chinese cooking and some more renowned foods. but sorry, you may have to look up the recipe yourself ; i'm good only at eating but noy cooking (:

ingredients:

1) chinese wines

2) oyster sauces

3) soy sauce

4) ginger

5) bamboo shoots

6) spring onion

7) dried red dates ( as a natural sweetener for soups)

8) dried silverfish ( also as a natural sweetener for soups)

some dishes:

1) sweet and sour pork

2) stir-fried pork

3) peking roast duck

4) steamed asparagus

Some of the common ingridients for Chinese food is garlic, ginger, and spring onion.  They also use star anise, five spice, chinese herbs such as gogi berries in medicinal soup.  Sometimes they will use fermentated vegetables such as diced fermented mustard green, or radishes (schechuan radish).  They also have many delicacies, such as shark fin soup, bird nest swallow soup, sea cucumber, abalone, dry scallops, fish mah, pheonix paw otherwise known as chicken feet.  The lists goes on.  It depends on what you ate.  Try to remember as many ingredients that you found tasty while you were there.

The best way to do this is to think of what you ate while there then google for recipes and talk about how the food differed from the versions served here in the states. If you tried any really odd or exotic items like 1000 yr old egg or duck foot soup then talk about how the food was eaten. Hopefully you kept a journal while you were there and can refer to it for inspiration. Good Luck!
