  1. Seaelen has given a magnificent answer....

    May I add...

If it isn't too far try going to Parque Güell. It's a beautiful park, and there are often people with children there.

Perhaps if you edited and gave us the name of the street you live on, or at least the neighbourhood you are in, we might be able to be more specific. Also your childs age would help, if he's under two don'r worry, at that age children love to play by themselves. If older why not find him a Guardería close to your home and have him get used to hearing little schoolmates speak spanish...by doing that, he'll be speaking proper spanish probably before you do!

(I have close friends who live in Barcelona, and we visit often, I know the town fairly well.)

Good luck, Barcelona is a lovely city to live in... And a small child always brings out the best in spanish people. You'll find many may not smile at you yourself, ...but they will talk to your liitle one very easily...then if you smile at them you'll end up being included in the conversation!

    :-)

  2. I saw your question in the toddler area too!  Let me ask you this, do you speak Spanish?  If you do, then it won't be too hard to find play groups or to even just chat it up with any neighbors you see in your building with young children too.

If you don't then you can still find other people.  There are a lot of English that live in Spain.

I suggest that you put your little guy in the stroller and start walking around your neighborhood and find the park where all the kids go!!  The big activity is around 10am and then again after 4pm.

You will be fine, I promise!!  And so will your son.  It just takes a bit of time and a little courage to get out and talk to people.

Good luck and go for it!!

  3. Type in "Mother & baby groups" in Spanish into your search engine.

You should get some good results.
